It’s time to go home. We’re ready to get back to our friends and family but overall the trip was a success. We learned quite a bit about different cultures. Prague is a place i would love to return to as it has so much to offer.
Three Shift Changes and a Beer Cart
September 24, 2008We found ourselves in the middle of a beautiful “old town” square. This area was made to look like Frankfurt in the old days for tourists. Needless to say we were tired from all the walking around and sight seeing from the last few days say we decided to camp out at a cafe to drink beer and people watch. By the time it was over we had sat in the same spot drinking beer for most of the day. A great time!
Spending most of the day in one spot your bound to see some weird things. First off you’ll notice one of the pictures has a beer cart. About ten people sit on the car and peddle while they drink beer. The bartender steers the cart while they sing, laugh and drink. Very cool. We also were lucky enough to see a big fat guy walk from one end of the square to the other completely naked. It was cold outside…
Walking around Frankfurt Germany
September 24, 2008After checking into our hotel we ventured out in search of whatever we could find. Frankfurt is one of the more modern cities in Germany. After spending so much time viewing “old world” europe we were not as impressed by the skyscrapers though we did find several interesting buildings and landmarks.
Train from Dresden to Frankfurt
September 24, 2008Woke up early and hauled butt from the hotel to the train station to catch the ICE train to Frankfurt. The only time it really rained during the trip was on the train ride. The train flies down the track over a hundred miles an hour. It has hydraulic lifts to raise the train during high speed corning. First class tickets too thanks to Mother (aka Allen)
Drinks in Dresden Germany
September 23, 2008After checking back into the hotel we changed clothes and headed out into the city for food and drinks.
Mansions and Bombs
September 23, 2008Dresden was completely flattened by all the bombing of the war. The city had been completely rebuilt but they left an entire city block the way it looked after the bombing. Quite sad to see how much destruction occurred.
We then stumbled upon a beautiful mansion not far from that bombed city block.
In search of Maggot Cheese
September 23, 2008Yes, i know what you’re thinking.. or not thinking. Maggot cheese is nasty.. but our boy Scott was determined to find this small cheese shop in the burbs of Dresden Germany. The only place to find this nasty stuff which cannot be imported into the States. Unfortunately we found out they no longer sold this gut wrenching cheese-dip.
Note of interest.. Johnny almost got us kicked out of the place by the Cheese Nazi as she didnt like him taking pictures. We discovered that not only did this cheese shop have boat loads of cheese to choose from they were famous for having placed hand-made tiles over every single wall and ceiling and didnt want to loose visitors by having us take pictures for the world to see. Enjoy the pics!

View from the Church Tower
September 23, 2008It took a long time to walk up to the top of the tower but once there we were rewarded with a beautiful view of Dresden below.
Touring the Church
September 23, 2008
Wandering around downtown we were shuffled into one of the most beautiful churches i’ve seen. So grandiose in design it’s hard to imagine how they built it. We’re heading up to the top for a view of the city next.
Downtown Dresden Walk
September 23, 2008Walking around the downtown area of Dresden. We stopped for lunch.
